PROJECTY News:
- The event is hosted by Manufacturing Extension Partnership and celebrates Manufacturing Day
projectY cowork Los Alamos, a collaborative workspace and entrepreneurship hub, has announced that in honor of Manufacturing Day, it will host an “Innovation to Manufacturing” panel and demo event at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12.
The New Mexico Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP)-moderated panel will feature Northern New Mexico manufacturers talking about scaling from proof-of-concept to manufacturing. At at 6:30 p.m., the same participating companies will begin demonstrations.
This year, every day in October is Manufacturing Day, with national events kicking off Oct. 7; on-campus school activities are scheduled for the week of Oct. 10 and New Mexico facility tours are scheduled for the week of Oct. 17. According to New Mexico MEP, the series of events serve as a spotlight on manufacturing and on the 28,000 New Mexicans working in the manufacturing industry today. Visitors get to see designs turned into products and products repurposed into other products — the range of human industry — and they leave with more knowledge and inspiration. In 2015, 33 companies across the state, and more than 2,300 nationally, hosted well-attended tours to highlight the future role of manufacturing.
In honor of Manufacturing Day, projectY cowork and Los Alamos Makers are also announcing an ongoing collaborative membership exchange. Moving forward, projectY members can use the Los Alamos Makers space for free (excluding workshops and extra supplies), and Los Alamos Makers’ members may attend projectY events and use its conference room. Both spaces will be hosting open houses from 9 a.m.-5 p.m on Friday, Oct. 14 for those interested in seeing how the spaces help support entrepreneurs starting or growing their business.
