SUMMER CONCERT News:

The 2019 Los Alamos Sectret City Summer Concert Series welcomes Igor & The Red Elvises Friday, Aug. 2 at the Ashley Pond Pavilion.

As an independent band, Red Elvises have produced 12 studio albums, two live albums, a live concert DVD and a Greatest Hits compilation.

Igor Yuzov was born in Germany, raised in Ukraine and studied in Russia. He grew up in the former Soviet Union, where folk music was the norm and Rock ‘n’ Roll was illegal. A rebellious streak led him to seek out the forbidden music. As soon as it became possible, Igor left Russia for America with his “Folk ‘n’ Roll” band Limpopo and was personally greeted by Ronald Reagan.

Igor and his Russian friends became Red Elvises and gave street performances on Santa Monica’s 3rd Street Promenade. As their crowds grew larger, the City of Santa Monica ordered them to discontinue their street performances.

Evolving over the years, Igor’s music has been labeled “Siberian Surf Rock” which contains humorous lyrics and grooves that forces his audience to dance.

Over the past 20 years, Red Elvises have constantly toured all over the world with occasional breaks to record new music and to participate in film and television projects. The Igor & The Red Elvises Concert is sponsored by Century Bank in celebration of their new Los Alamos office scheduled to open in late summer.

“We’re thrilled to work with Century Bank to bring this fan favorite back to Los Alamos,” Sancre Productions spokeswoman Monica Griego said. “Igor and The Red Elvises were the most requested performance group in the series and Sancre Productions is proud to continue their tradition of performing in the Los Alamos Summer Concert Series lineup.”

Friday’s Opening Band features performances from The Los Alamos Hill Stompers. The Hill Stompers are an award-winning jazzy street band formed in Los Alamos in 2000. Hill Stomper musicians and dancers are colorful, creative and just a little bit crazy.

As its 11th concert in the Series, the Sancre Productions team is working in tandem with various Los Alamos County Departments to ensure public safety, ADA accommodations, free parking and shuttle services and a diverse offering of Food Truck Vendors. The Youth Performance by Los Alamos Jazz Project starts at 6 p.m., The Hill Stompers perform at 6:30 p.m. and Igor & The Red Elvises perform at 8 p.m. The New Mexico Craft Distillery Garden will offer craft cocktails and beer from Rolling Still Distillery Bros., Bathtub Row Brewing Co-Op., and Santa Fe Brewing Company.
