FLAC News:

The Fuller Lodge Art Center in Los Alamos is hosting an art opening 5-7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 7, like no other!

Los Alamos IS New Mexico ‘s Secret City and the birthplace of the Manhattan Project and the Atomic Bomb. With its contentious history and the National Laboratory still in place, the town is saturated with visitors seeking the truth.

For its next exhibit, the  Fuller Lodge Art Center will open its doors to the theories and opinions of artists from all across the country. Some view the results of the Manhattan project as a curse, others a blessing. The Art Center will touch upon this controversial topic in its new show, “I Am Become Death.”

Taken out of the Bhagavad-Gita, “I am become death” are the words uttered by Robert Oppenheimer when he saw the aftermath of his own bomb. But what was he feeling when he said this? Was he proud? Ashamed? The Art Center will pique the community’s interest with various interpretations of this theme. We invite everybody to come and view the show, and tell us what you think.

In the Portal Gallery at the Art Center, Albuquerque artist Charlie Aldrich will display a series of his paintings titled Los Alamos Bridge: Memories and Ruminations. Come and see these thought provoking exhibits, meet the artists, and grab some refreshments. Both shows runs Oct. 7 through Nov. 12.
