BSMA News:

Hundreds of robotics enthusiasts gathered Aug. 23 at the Bradbury Science Museum, when more than 30 robotics teams from around the region were joined by the Los Alamos Police Department bomb diffusing robots, UNM-LA’s Robotics Degree Program and Los Alamos STEM Lab.

New Mexico Bank & Trust (NMB&T) sponsored the event.

“It’s nice to give back to the community,” NMB&T Vice President Liz Cavasos said. “We love seeing the enthusiasm in all of the kids making it so much fun to be part of such a great event.”

The Bradbury Science Museum Association (BSMA) hosted the event.

“We want to thank New Mexico Bank & Trust for generously sponsoring the Aug. 23 Robotics Night at the Bradbury Science Museum,” BSMA President Ryn Herrmann said. “The BSMA has been fortunate to partner with New Mexico Bank & Trust for the past three years to bring this event back to the Bradbury Science Museum, and we are looking forward to next year!”

The event wouldn’t be possible without the efforts of the BSMA, the generosity of NMB&T and the hard work of many parents and organizers.

“The Quadrumaniacs (FLL Team 146) enjoyed organizing Robotics Night and presenting our own BananaBot and spiral art alongside other fantastic teams,” Robotics Night organizer Susannah Rousculp said. “A lot of hard work goes into building and programming robots and working together as a team. Sharing with the community is almost as rewarding as getting to go to international competitions.”

The BSMA is the 501(c)3 non-profit partner to the Bradbury Science Museum with the mission of promoting STEM education opportunities for people of all ages; and providing events such as Robotics Night is one example of the BSMA’s STEM education outreach efforts.
