House Speaker Don Tripp To Give Remarks At Stover Campaign Kick-off Today

Sharon Stover, Republican candidate for New Mexico House Dist. 43, announced that House Speaker Don Tripp will give special remarks at her kick-off event this afternoon in Los Alamos.

“Speaker Don Tripp and I have worked together on juvenile justice issues for many years,” Stover said. “I am honored by his willingness to travel to Los Alamos from his home in Socorro to support my candidacy and help celebrate the start of my campaign.”

Tripp was elected in 1999 to represent House Dist. 49, which includes Catron County, most of Socorro County and a portion of Valencia County. In 2015, Tripp became Speaker of the House, the first Republican to hold that position since 1954. Tripp owns many small businesses in and around Socorro, and he won the Governor’s Viva Award for Business in 1993. He serves on the Board of Directors for State National Bank, and he has served as a director for the Association of Commerce and Industry, regent for Western New Mexico University and director of the New Mexico Educational Assistance Foundation. He has been married to Rosie Tripp for 50 years.

The kick-off event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and the program begin at 5:30 p.m. at Pasta Paradiso on Trinity Drive (former Hill Diner).

“Renee Lee, owner of Pasta Paradiso, will be providing samples of her delicious food,” Stover said. “This event will be a good opportunity to get a preview of the anticipated offerings from this upcoming addition to Los Alamos’s restaurant scene.”
