Holy Ghost Canyon Road Closes For Repairs

SFNF News:

SANTA FE  For public safety reasons, Forest Road 122 of Holy Ghost Canyon will close to vehicle access primarily for major road repairs beginning May 30.

The gate to the Holy Ghost Canyon will close to the public for about three weeks, which places the anticipated reopening around mid-June.

The Holy Ghost Campground, Trailhead and Group Area is located in the Pecos/Las Vegas Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) and will be inaccessible by vehicle during the closure period.

“Safety is our top priority, therefore any member of the public utilizing vehicles on FR 122 (Holy Ghost Canyon) will need to be out by May 29,” Steve Romero, district ranger said. “It’s a popular road that gets a lot of use and is in much need of repair. Because this type of road work requires high temperatures and dry conditions, the timing is good for us to get it done now before the arrival of monsoon rains forecasted in July.”

The SFNF is in forest wide Stage 2 fire restrictions. If you plan to be in the forest, practice good fire prevention and adhere to the fire restrictions posted on the SFNF website: https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd579371.pdf. Violators could be subject to fines, imprisonment, or both.
