Hive Holds Linux ‘Install Fest’

HIVE News:

A Linux “Install Fest” workshop is set for 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at The Hive, 134 N.M. 4 in White Rock, just east of Metzgers.

Geoff Chesshire, Roy Nielsen, John Battles and Kerri Thurston will advise, guide and assist with this hands-on workshop. Plan to bring a computer (no Apples, please) and a USB flash drive of at least 8GB (16GB preferred) to install Linux on.

If you prefer, you can use an external hard drive instead of a flash drive. Another USB flash drive of at least 4GB as installation medium would be helpful. Otherwise you will need a DVD reader.

A 6 to 12 foot Ethernet cable would also be helpful, but is not necessary. If you plan to bring a desktop computer, please come a bit early so that you can get it set up by 6 p.m. There will be no charge for this workshop.

Those planning to attend this workshop, should call or email Dave Jones at 660-6992 or so that the organizers can plan for the correct number of people. Indicate the type of computer (desktop, laptop, netbook) that you intend to bring, and its operating system (e.g, Windows 7, Windows 8.)
