History On Tap Features Bill Hudson At Unquarked The Wine Room In Central Park Square Thursday

Bill Hudson

CREATIVE DISTRICT News:

Los Alamos Living Treasure Bill Hudson is the featured speaker at History On Tap at 5:30 p.m., Thursday at UnQuarked Wine Room, 145 Central Park Square in downtown Los Alamos.

At History On Tap, Hudson will share his experiences as a Marine on Iwo Jima, and not just the story of the battle. He will tell stories not found in history books. Bill just celebrated his 90th birthday and is a longtime Los Alamos resident.

He has taught and coached here and in Puerto Rico, has competed in the Senior Olympics at the national level, and at age 65 was part of the team that swam the English Channel. He was recognized as a Los Alamos Living Treasure in 2005.

Sponsored by the Los Alamos Creative District and hosted by the Los Alamos Historical Society, this series begins each evening with an informal 10-15 minute lecture followed by a lively group discussion.

On Tap is a way for people to get out and about in the community, learn something new, and meet people with similar interests. On Tap happens twice a month. The discussions are supported by Bradbury Science Museum, Fuller Lodge Art Center, Los Alamos Historical Society and PEEC.

The Los Alamos Creative District directs a variety of programs that bring people to downtown Los Alamos.

Fourth Fridays is a monthly event that offers special programming at Mesa Public Library, Bradbury Science Museum, Los Alamos Historical Society and Fuller Lodge Art Center. Fourth Fridays happens on the fourth Friday of each month and also will promote special offerings from local businesses.

Tuesdays at the Pond, a summer entertainment series, began its second season Tuesday and runs through Aug. 11. It brings a variety of entertainment acts to the Ashley Pond Park stage in downtown Los Alamos at 7: p.m., every Tuesday evening.

The mission of the Creative District is to advance the community’s unique creative identity and generate increased economic prosperity by curating and providing local cultural programming that connects a broad range of stakeholders. Learn more about LACD at www.creativelosalamos.org.
