Did you ever wonder how homesteaders enjoyed and relied on nature? What did nature mean to the Los Alamos Ranch School?

Find out 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23 at the Los Alamos Nature Center. Enjoy photos and conversations with experts from Los Alamos History Museum about the history of our connection to the Pajarito Plateau. Kids can explore the coloring station with scenes from homesteading and the Ranch School. Come with your own stories to share about what being outdoors in Los Alamos means to you!

Judith Machen, co-author of Homesteading on the Pajarito Plateau, will be on hand to discuss how homesteaders made a living in our natural environment. Sharon Snyder, author of At Home on the Slopes of Mountains: The Story of Peggy Pond Church, will talk about what nature meant to the Los Alamos Ranch School experience. Both will be giving brief presentations throughout the hour, so arrive whenever and stay as long as you like.

This historical evening will take place at the Los Alamos Nature Center at 2600 Canyon Road. It is free to attend, and no registration is required.
