Hilltoppers Win Volleyball Game In Moriarty

Kyla Sandaval and Sophia Salazar dive to dig a ball in the first set. The Los Alamos Hilltoppers Volleyball team opened District 4A play Monday night Oct. 2 in Moriarty. The Toppers won sets 1 and 3 while the Pintos took sets 2-4. The 5th set belonged to the Toppers as they jumped out to a 7-1 lead finished with a win. The 5th set was led with strong serving and hitting from Eden Schmierer. Elise Olivas kept the offense calm and directed a solid overall performance. The defense from Kyla Sandoval, Gabby Duran and Gracie Swenson kept on target passes coming for the Toppers hitters led by Natalie Gallegos and Sophia Salazar.
