Boy’s Golf

Considered one of the top 5A teams in the state, the Los Alamos boy’s golf team picked up another win in Albuquerque against a field of the top metro area schools. The worst showing the boy’s golf team this season was a second place finish at Grants Invite. They have won all three other tournaments they’ve played in thus far. “It’s good that the boys to get another win in a quality field in Albuquerque. As a team, we didn’t have our best stuff for most of the day,” said Head Coach Anders Ainsworth. “Sean, Logan, Davis, and Brandan put quality rounds together. Sean’s 75 could have easily been a 68-70 if a few putts had gone in. He made nothing all day outside of 5 feet and still shot 75 bringing home 2nd place individually.”

The ‘Toppers were able to win by six strokes or more over 6A powers La Cueva and Rio Rancho after struggling on the course. “We will get back to work this week focusing on holing some putts as well as hitting wedge shots to specific distances. Our team needs to make more birdies by hitting wedges closer giving ourselves better opportunities to score. I’m proud of the boys for holding it together today when overall it was a struggle,” Ainsworth added.

The ‘Toppers will host a four team Los Alamos Golf Fall Finale with the girl’s team on Monday, Oct. 23 with a 10 a.m. shotgun start before finishing the fall leg of the schedule in the Bosque School Invite Oct. 30.at the Albuquerque Country Club.
