The Los Alamos Girls Hilltoppers were in need of a victory as they took on the Academy Chargers in Griffith Gym Monday night. 
 
Well, they got their wish in a upset victory over the chargers 44-41. The Chargers were 3-0 in district play and ranked as one of the top 5 teams in the state so the topper victory was big.
 
The Toppers started the first quarter with a very stiff defense, which held the Chargers to only 6, while the Toppers scored 15. In the 2nd quarter the Toppers did not fair as well and only scored 4 point to the 16 of the Chargers bringing the halftime score to 19-22 Chargers. 
 
In the 3rd quarter LA only managed to score 8 points but held the Chargers to only 6 points bringing the bringing the score to 25-30 Chargers. 
 
In the 4th quarter the Topper defense once again held the Chargers to 4 points while scoring 9, which tied the game at 34-34. In the overtime the Toppers offense made the crucial points to win the game 44-41.
