The Rotary Club of Los Alamos donated $400 to the Hilltalkers speech and debate team at Tuesday’s meeting at the Manhattan Project Restairant.

“The donation is greatly appreciated because it is very expensive to have a competitive debate team,” Coach Margo Batha said.

But the support and Hilltalkers’ work have paid off, Batha said. The Hilltalkers are the number one speech and debate team in the state.

The team will again put their skills to the test during the New Mexico Speech Debate Championships Feb. 26-28 in Los Alamos. Volunteer judges are needed for the competition. If interested in being a judge, visit http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0c45acab2fa1f85-state, for more information.
