Ashtyn Lopez is one of several Los Alamos High School students hoping to make things a little brighter for the youth of Los Alamos.

Lopez and her Child Development class, under the direction of Louise Majorey, at Los Alamos High School, are hosting a snack and mitten drive throughout the community through Nov. 24. The students, with the assistance of both branches of the senior center, Chamisa Elementary in White Rock, Los Alamos Middle School and the high school are collecting snacks, mittens, scarves and hats to warm the hearts and fill the bellies of those in need, in and around the local community.

“I hope people will donate because it’s a good cause, and it’s helping the younger kids,” Lopez said.

Those businesses, clubs and organizations wishing to do their own collection, can request a pick up by calling 505.663.3252.
