Heavy Rain Disrupts Weekly Pace Race

Fifteen dedicated runners and walkers showed up for Tuesday night’s Atomic City Road Runners Pace Race at Barranca Mesa Elementary School.

But since the rain did not let up, five folks decided not to take on the one and three mile courses. Ten others, most of whom were dressed for the rainy weather, took off and ran in the rain around Barranca Mesa Elementary School and down the horse trail into Bayo Canyon, to the point, and back up Gonzales Road returning to the school. Though the runners were thoroughly drenched, they said they enjoyed the outing.  

Next week’s pace race is 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13 on North Mesa stating in front of 1287 San Ildefonso Road, which is almost at the end of San Ildefonso Road. One and 3 mile paved courses will be available.
