Gubernatorial Candidate Steve Pearce Calls For Interagency Task Force To Fight Crime, Make NM Safer

From the Steve Pearce for Governor Campaign:

  • Former APD Det. Michelle Garcia Holmes to Lead Federal, State, Local Group

ALBUQUERQUE—Steve Pearce joined with leading police and law enforcement officials Tuesday to announce that as Governor he will immediately put in place an interagency task force to combat crime and make New Mexico’s communities safer.

“The time for talk is over. New Mexico communities have heard enough excuses. On my first day in office, I will bring together the best of our law enforcement community to combat New Mexico’s crime wave and make our communities safe again for our citizens,” Steve Pearce said. “There is no better person to lead this effort than my running mate, former Albuquerque Police Detective Michelle Garcia Holmes. Michelle brings to the job 30 years of police experience and the ability to bring together federal, state, and local law enforcement to finally end this crime wave.

“I am honored to have the endorsement of the Albuquerque Police Officers’ Association and I have pledged to them my unwavering commitment to giving them what they need to break this cycle of crime. They deserve our support and we’ll give it to them.

“Together, we’ll catch the dangerous criminals and keep them off them streets for good. My opponent favors releasing hardened criminals back into our communities by supporting policies like automatic parole, even for murderers. We have one message for her, not on our watch.

“Through bold leadership and hard work we will overcome this painful time. With the best of our law enforcement working together and the support of every agency in government, New Mexico will solve the crime problem in our state and make it safe for every one of our families.”
