Gruninger: Happy New Year – Part 1

I know – New Year’s thoughts already? But, aren’t you already thinking about the holidays?

It’s easy to get lost in the next eight weeks and forget about reflecting on this year and considering next year.

So to get started, there are less than two months left until we turn the calendar to 2022.

You might take a moment to reflect on the following questions:

  • How do you want to show up for yourself and others in these last two months of 2021?
  • Would it help to make a plan of how you will self-care or self-support in the next eight weeks rather than getting “too busy” or “caught up” to take care of yourself?
  • Is there anything you’d like to experience before the end of the year?
  • Are you telling yourself it’s too late, I’ll start again in the New Year? (It’s not too late!)

The bottom line is, we can celebrate the new year whenever we want. We can create change, make plans, have fun WHENEVER WE WANT. We do not have to wait until the New Year. The right time is right now.

As Rumi writes…
The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.
Don’t go back to sleep.
You must ask for what you really want.
Don’t go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth across the doorsill
Where the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
Don’t go back to sleep.

I invite you to use this time to look within and ask yourself what you really want these next few weeks before turning the calendar. Make a commitment to yourself now and see it through until the new year.
