Grey Fox Captured On Video On Barranca Mesa

This grey fox captured on video sniffing around the patio of a home on Barranca Mesa Friday night, has become a frequent visitor there. Adult grey foxes can measure up to 47 inches in length and weigh 6 to 15 pounds. They have coarse, salt and pepper gray hair with black markings on the head, nose and muzzle. Grey foxes also have a medial black stripe down the top surface of the tail with a black tip. They make sounds of yapping, howling, barking, whimpering and screaming. Grey foxes can be found from southern Canada to northern Venezuela, excluding the northwestern United States. They tend to stay away from urban areas, preferring a more secluded habitat. Grey foxes are opportunistic foragers that will eat virtually every kind of meat, fruit, vegetable or insect. Source: wildlifesciencecenter.org. Video/Bev Leasure
