Green: Running For School Board To Represent & Serve All

By ERIN GREEN
Candidate
School Board District 5

My name is Erin Green, and I am excited to announce that I am running to continue representing District 5 (Mountain) of the Los Alamos Public School Board.

I was honored to be appointed in July to the seat vacated by Dawn Jalbert. It has been a rewarding experience so far, and I am eager to have the opportunity to extend my service. In my role as a parent, and through my experiences as a counselor, Girl Scout leader, and church community leader, I have become deeply passionate about advocating for services, support, and opportunities for all members of our community to thrive, known broadly as community care.

These opportunities begin in our schools, involving students, families, teachers, support staff, and administrators. Because of my background in mental health care, I know how important it is to focus on care for all. In my brief time on the school board I have considered the diverse needs of our schools, and I will prioritize the needs of the LAPS community as a whole if elected to continue serving on the school board.

My goal is to foster safe and inclusive schools that are filled with well-adjusted students and supported teachers and staff. We will accomplish this by continuing to allocate resources which help us focus on the socio-emotional wellness of our schools and community to ensure that we are educating the whole child.

I am dedicated to continuing to listen to all stakeholders as we make decisions regarding land use, school rebuilds, and future joint endeavors with the county so we can meet the needs of our community in and beyond the classroom.

This commitment will inform my approach to all upcoming school board business including hiring a new superintendent, establishing budget priorities, and clearly communicating ever-changing policies as we respond and adapt to the ongoing global pandemic.

My name is Erin Green and I am passionate about bringing community care practices to our school system as the representative for District 5. I ask for your support in the upcoming election.
