Los Alamos High School Social Studies Teacher Colby Holland recently completed a one-day workshop focused on Advanced Placement (AP) Human Geography.
The workshop was conducted at the Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles. Holland received instruction that will prepare him to teach AP Human Geography at LAHS in Fall 2016.
“The workshop showed me how to teach to the College Board’s depth of complexity and standards, both expectations of an AP course,” Holland said.
Holland was able to analyze last year’s national AP exam results for Human Geography. The purpose of analyzing last year’s results is to help design both formulative and evaluative assessments for the AP instruction.
This professional development was funded by a grant, held by the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation and established by the family and friends of Fred Roach, who was a long-time Los Alamos resident and respected community leader.
