Governor Signing Legislation Today Banning Texting While Driving


Santa Fe—Gov. Susana Martinez will sign legislation prohibiting texting while driving in New Mexico. Senate Bill 19, sponsored by Sen. Peter Wirth, D-Santa Fe and Rep. James Smith, R-Sandia Park, bans texting while operating a motor vehicle, except when summoning medical or other emergency help.


The Governor is scheduled to sign the bill at 2 p.m., today at the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator in Albuquerque.
