During a press conference this afternoon, New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced that the phase 2 economic reopening scheduled for July 1 is on hold.
The decision comes after recent spikes in COVID-19 cases in surrounding states in the region.
The state will continue to evaluate transmission rates and the rise in national cases for an additional week before making decisions about:
- Raising the mass gatherings limit; and
- Additional limited, COVID-safe reopenings.
It is more important than ever to wear masks and avoid groups.
The community is encouraged to continue to support businesses adhering to COVID-safe practices.
