Governor Orders Flags Half-Staff Sunrise to Noon Memorial Day

SANTA FE—Gov. Susana Martinez issued an executive order for flags to be flown at half-staff from sunrise until noon Monday, May 26, in honor of the men and women who served America and died while protecting its freedoms.

The full text of the Governor’s executive order:

EXECUTIVE ORDER 2014-008

ORDERING FLAGS TO BE FLOWN AT HALF-STAFF ON MEMORIAL DAY

WHEREAS, we owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the men and women who served our country and died while protecting our freedoms;

WHEREAS, we must also remember and recognize members of the U.S. military here and abroad who help make our country safer every day;

WHEREAS, New Mexico is home to thousands of active-duty, National Guard, reservists, and retired military personnel and the family and friends who support them;

WHEREAS, we are grateful for their service and support on this Memorial Day and every day;

NOW THEREFORE I, Susana Martinez, Governor of the State of New Mexico, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the Laws of the State of New Mexico, do hereby order that all flags be flown at half-staff from sunrise on Monday, May 26th, 2014, to noon on Monday, May 26th, 2014, in honor of the men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces and gave their lives for their country. The thoughts and prayers of the people of New Mexico are with them as well as a heartfelt thank you for their courageous services.
