GOP Central Committee to Hold Special Election

GOP News:

Due to time constraints in his personal life, Jordan Redmond has tendered his resignation as chairman of the Los Alamos County Republican Party.

First Vice Chairman Bill McKerley has called a special election for 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at the Church of Christ building, 2323 Diamond Dr., to elect a chairman, 1st vice chairman, 2nd vice chairman and secretary of the Central Committee.

Any Republican registered in Los Alamos County may be considered for election but only members of the Central Committee elected at the 2011 Biennial Organization Convention may vote.

Republican elected public officials are considered ex-officio members of the County Central Committee with full voting rights.

Nominations will be made from the floor.  Nominees must be present or provide written consent to be nominated if unable to be present. Contested races will be determined by secret ballots and uncontested races by voice vote.

Officers elected at this special meeting will hold office until the 2013 Biennial Organizational Meeting is held.  The week of this meeting will be set by the State Party Chairman.
