LA PIECEMAKER’S QUILT GUILD News:

Saturday, Sept. 29 is the 2012 Quilt Market co-sponsored by the Los Alamos Piecemaker’s Quilt Guild and Jemez Mountains Bear Paw Quilting Guild.

This year the Quilt Market will be presented from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Crossroads Bible Church, 97 East Road in Los Alamos.

Members have made quilted “treasures” that will be for sale. Bed quilts, table runners, placemats, wall hangings and wearable items are just a few of the items that will be featured.

There is a huge selection of holiday quilted items that are great for gifts for friends and family including mug rugs, cosmetic bags and ornaments.

Co-chairs for the 2012 Market, Libby Carlsten and Brenda Edeskutyboth, agree that there is absolutely something for everyone.

The “Smokey River Quilt,” is the name of this year’s Donation Quilt. The quilt has been designed, pieced and quilted by members.

This beautiful quilt will be raffled off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Come and buy some tickets for a chance to win this lovely quilt.

There will be a special section of second-hand and gently used quilt-related items for sale.

This will include fabric, books, tools, patterns, equipment, unfinished projects or other quilting-related items for sale.

Once again, there also will be a Silent Auction at the Quilt Market with children’s quilts, wallhangings and table runners.

There also is a Christmas wall hanging of the 12 days of Christmas. Winners will be announced at 3 p.m. and you don’t need to be present to win either the Smokey River Quilt or items from the Silent Auction.

Both Quilt Guilds are very active and do community service projects. The Jemez Mountain Bear Paw quilters have been making quilts and giving them to the families of each fallen New Mexico serviceman and servicewoman.

The Los Alamos Piecemaker’s do various community projects and have made more than 40 quilts for the Little Bear Fire Victims.

The Los Alamos Piecemaker’s meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month. This month at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25 at the United Church, 2525 Canyon Road in Los Alamos the group is hosting a potluck welcoming those interested in joining the Quilt Guild.
