About Shop on the Corner:

All proceeds from the sales at Shop on the Corner help to feed, shelter, and clothe families in need.

The Shop is run entirely by volunteers and depends on donations from the local community. More than two dozen volunteers support the Shop and spend about 3,000 hours per year sorting, cleaning, repairing, and pricing the donations.

The weekly Wednesday morning sales generate revenues of more than $25,000 annually. The annual financial and in-kind contributions go primarily to regional charitable organizations, with about one third going to local Los Alamos-based beneficiaries.

About 98 percent of the Shop’s revenue is distributed to charities including Navajoland Area Mission, LA Cares food pantry, Food Depot in Santa Fe, Self Help, Inc., Los Alamos YMCA Teen Center, Habitat for Humanity, local animal shelters, and many more.

The Shop also makes in-kind contributions of unsold items to Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the community of Bernal, N.M.
