The Future Energy Resource Committee changed its weekly meetings from Tuesdays to Thursdays. The meeting time of 11:30 a.m. and location at the Municipal Building, 1000 Central Ave. remain the same.
Note that the Committee does not meet in the same room each week. Be sure to check the FER Committee website for the appropriate meeting room, as well as agendas, and minutes here.
Appointed last January by the Board of Public Utilities, the seven member ad hoc citizen committee is charged to examine and recommend:
- a definition of carbon neutrality;
- future energy generation resources; and
- policy as it relates to distributed generation in the County. Meetings began last March with a goal to complete recommendations for the Board of Public Utilities by July.
Meetings are held weekly and are open to the public. For additional information, call the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities at 505.662.8333 or drop an email to the FER Committee at FER@lacnm.us.
The Department of Public Utilities (DPU) operates the county-owned electric, gas, water and wastewater systems under the jurisdiction of the Board of Public Utilities. The Board meets the third Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. and the public is always welcome. Stay up to date with the DPU by subscribing to the monthly Board Meeting Recap via email, at www.losalamosnm.us/Pages/Subscribe.aspx. The DPU is funded by rates paid for electric, gas, water and wastewater services and auxiliary fees, and has provided the community with these services for more than 40 years.
