Funeral arrangements have been set in Denton, Texas for retired Los Alamos Middle School science teacher Linda Scott, 70, and her husband Marion Scott, 75.

The Scotts’ funeral is 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, 201 S. Locust St. Visitation is 6-8 p.m., Monday at DeBerry Funeral Directors, 2025 W. University Dr.

The couple’s youngest child, Stephen Scott, 40, admitted to a 911 operator that he had stabbed them to death Sunday in their home. Police have charged him with capital murder and he remains in the Denton County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

Reports indicate that Scott attended Los Alamos Public Schools and holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics from Colorado State University. He worked at a hospice in Denton from 2007 until 2013 when he was laid off. He went to work at Hospice Plus in Dallas until losing that job a few months ago.

Former colleagues describe Scott as socially awkward. They say he plays the saxophone and has significant knowledge of classical music and art. They also say, “he could not have been in his right mind” to kill his parents.
