Attention gardeners, bakers, quilters and artists – you have two weeks to get your entries ready for the Los Alamos County Fair.

If you are into robotics, here is an opportunity to exhibit your favorite robot as well as your home preserves, garden produce and those lovely quilts.

The County Fair and Rodeo runs Aug. 9-12.

Anyone living or working in Los Alamos County is eligible to enter.

Exhibit categories include:

  • Culinary (baked items),
  • Preserved Foods,
  • Hobbies & Crafts,
  • Fine Arts,
  • Photography,
  • Quilts,
  • Clothing,
  • Knitting,
  • Crochet,
  • Needlework,
  • Horticulture, and
  • 4-H Projects.

Age categories range from 5 years old to senior citizens.

To enter your exhibits, you may either pre-register until Friday, Aug. 3, or bring your items to the Mesa Public Library from 2-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9.

The more entries there are, the more it contributes to everyone’s enjoyment of the fair.

Who knows, maybe your exhibit will be one of the four “Best of The Best” plate winners!

Viewing of all exhibits for handicapped individuals begins at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10 with viewing for the general public from 5-8 p.m. upstairs at Mesa Public Library.

Public viewing continues on Saturday also at Mesa Public Library. Exhibits are open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

To find out what kind of items you might wish to enter in the fair, you’ll need to have a copy of the Exhibit Entry Booklet, which lists the various categories and classes available.

These are available at the Cooperative Extension Office located in the Los Alamos Community Building or visit: http://losalamosextension.nmsu.edu/fair.html

In addition, you’ll also find them at the Mesa Public Library, White Rock Branch Library, Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center, Chamber of Commerce, KANDU Center, and Betty Ehart and White Rock Senior Centers.

Pre-registration of exhibits may be done until Aug. 3 on-line or at the Extension Office.

Pre-registration is not required but will simplify the check-in process.
