Fresh Start And Full Season: Santa Fe Pro Musica Returns To The Stage For 40th Anniversary

SANTA FE — Santa Fe Pro Musica is offering an exciting selection of orchestral and chamber music concerts in three historic Santa Fe venues for its 2021–22 season.

The season also will include a variety of educational and social events: lectures, demonstrations, masterclasses, youth concerts and post-concert dinners and receptions with the artists.

Join us as we celebrate live performance and share our love of music with the community! Sept. 25, 2021 to May 1, 2022 at Lensic Performing Arts Center, St. Francis Auditorium, and Loretto Chapel Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Orchestra Series

Season Opening Concert: Welcome Back!—Sept. 25 and 26 at the Lensic The Santa Fe Pro Musica Orchestra, conductor Benjamin Hochman, and pianist Anne-Marie McDermott take to the stage at the Lensic for a concert of favorites by Mozart and Beethoven.

Fall Orchestra Concert—November 6 and 7 at the Lensic Conductor Mei-Ann Chen leads a performance of music by Tchaikovsky, Reena Esmail, and Haydn, featuring violinist Bella Hristova.

Vivaldi’s Four Seasons—December 29 and 30 in St. Francis Auditorium Colin Jacobsen returns as violin soloist and leader in this holiday-season concert, featuring Vivaldi’s virtuosic masterpieces, Telemann’s picturesque Burlesque de Don Quixote, and Bach’s beloved Concerto in D Minor for Two Violins, with violinist and concertmaster Stephen Redfield.

Winter Orchestra Concert—January 29 and 30 at the Lensic New Mexico native David Felberg conducts a concert of Mozart and Mendelssohn, along with the premiere of The History of Red. Composed by Reena Esmail with text by poet Linda Hogan, this new work was initiated by and will feature soprano Kathryn Mueller.

Season Finale: Haydn’s The Creation—April 30 and May 1 at the Lensic Music Director Emeritus and Conductor Laureate Thomas O’Connor takes the podium for the season’s grand finale. Polyphony: Voices of New Mexico will join the Pro Musica Orchestra for these performances of Haydn’s cinematic oratorio.

String Works Series in St. Francis Auditorium and Lensic Performing Arts Center

This season, Pro Musica’s popular String Works Series features the world-class Dover (October 17), Castalian (February 13), Borromeo (March 6), and St. Lawrence String Quartets (March 27), as well as Cuarteto Casals (February 19).

Loretto Chapel Series

A Baroque Christmas—December 18–21 and 23–24

Celebrate the holidays with us! The Pro Musica Baroque Ensemble performs music by baroque masters and traditional carols in the festively decorated Loretto Chapel.

Holy Week—April 14–16

The Diderot String Quartet commemorates the joys and sorrows of the Easter season with Haydn’s contemplative The Seven Last Words of Christ.
