Freedom Church News:

The idea was born out of the Pandemic Holidays of 2020. “It was so much fun, we are doing it again,” Pastor Mike Brake said, lead pastor at Freedom Church in Los Alamos.

The entire community is invited to participate. The events kick off Monday, Dec. 13 on a special Facebook Event Page and runs through Christmas day.

A Time for Fun

The events will be hosted entirely on Facebook, Direct Link here

Each day throughout the event, Freedom Church will unlock 1 of 12 daily ‘gifts’, much like in 2020 but with some exciting new additions. The most popular events will be back including the extremely fun Scavenger Hunt and Pizza Giveaway day. In addition, there will be a Small Business Spotlight Day, a Cookie Recipe Exchange, Caroling, and a ‘Surviving the Holidays’ grief support group, just to name a few.

Most days will include prizes and giveaways. Some will happen over the course of the 12 days, while others will happen completely within a 24-hour period. More details can be found at Christmas in Los Alamos 2021 (www.ChristmasInLosAlamos.com)

A Time for Giving Back

Freedom Church also will be giving away at least $10,000 to the Los Alamos community during the 12 days.

“One hundred percent of that will go directly to Los Alamos residents in need, local small businesses and non-profits, and some to contest winners,” Pastor Mike explained. “We’re excited to continue to offer the ‘Christmas in Los Alamos Care Finder’ during this season at Freedom Church Care Finder (freedomla.church/carefinder) where anyone can submit requests on behalf of families, individuals, or small businesses in the community. We’ll work together with them to help meet that need. It’s truly a community building exercise where if you see a need, you can meet that need!”

“Since we started in in 2018, Freedom Church has given over $60,000 to families in need in Los Alamos as well as local business. We are on a mission to Love Los Alamos with zero strings attached.”

A Time for Encouragement & Building Community

The 12 day event will also consist of several Facebook livestreams with messages of hope, a retelling of the account about the birth of Jesus, as well as inspiring stories of life change. It will culminate with a special outdoor candlelight Christmas Eve Service under the lights at Ashley Pond (4:45-5:30 p.m.)

Pastor Mike further expects that, “People who participate in any of these planned online activities are going to find hope. In what has been another challenging year for Los Alamos, you can find help and encouragement this Christmas season. You can even have some fun, and you don’t have to do it alone.”

Freedom Church does everything they can to provide a low-pressure environment where you will feel welcome. One church member said, “The mental/spiritual battles during this pandemic are huge. It’s why I’m so thankful to have the relationships I have at Freedom because I don’t have to face these battles alone. I can open up, share, and find encouragement to keep taking my next steps.”

“So many people don’t feel like they belong, or that they don’t have value,” Pastor Mike said. “We want to make people feel welcomed and valued.”
