NPS News:

WATROUS — Due to recent heavy rains, Fort Union National Monument announces a partial closure of the trail system around the Quartermaster Depot area until hazard mitigation has been completed for the adobe ruins.

When visiting the park, the public is asked to:

• Stay on the trail;
• Stay back from ruin walls; and
• Obey posted warnings and closures.

Fort Union National Monument is west of Watrous. Take exit 366 off I-25 and follow N.M. 161 eight miles west to the Monument. The site, programs and events are free.
