Former Sen. Dede Feldman In Los Alamos To Share ‘Grassroots Solutions’ May 24

Former Sen. Dede Feldman

COMMUNITY News:

Former Senator Dede Feldman will speak about Grassroots Solutions from New Mexico at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 24 at Mesa Public Library, 2400 Central Ave.

This “Authors Speak” talk, which is based on her new book, Another Way Forward, will highlight the work of non-profits, social enterprises and grassroots organizations traveling another route to economic development and healthy communities.

Another Way Forward profiles innovative organizations and inspiring local leaders who are changing the world in New Mexico, one neighborhood, one clinic, and one classroom at a time. Feldman reveals their secrets of success and gives tips on how readers can make a difference at the community level.

Her alternative path is focused on community—as well as economic—development and features food hubs, land trusts, fire departments, medical homes, outdoor classrooms and even weird museums.

Along the way the reader meets asparagus farmers, EMTs, neighborhood hell raisers, radical teachers, public health advocates and social entrepreneurs. Together these resourceful citizens are drawing a roadmap to permanent jobs and healthy communities, something that often eludes national and state officials.

Feldman spent 16 years in the New Mexico Senate and is the author of landmark health, consumer protection and campaign finance laws. She will sign and sell copies of her book, Another Way Forward: Grassroots Solutions from New Mexico as well as Inside the New Mexico Senate: Boots Suits and Citizens.

More information on both books and ordering information can be found at www.dedefeldman.com.
