June English of Professional Skin Care Choices has been providing corrective skin care in Los Alamos since 2006. After 17 years in business, English is preparing to retire. She is currently looking for someone to take over her thriving business.

“My clients are the most important thing to me,” English said. “I want someone to transition with me, so things will be seamless, not only for the new owner, but for the clients. I have clients who have been with me for many years. They return several times a year for treatments.”

In addition to her long-term clientele, English been seeing a lot of new clients over the past few years, as Los Alamos National Laboratory has increased its staff.

“People find me through word-of-mouth and through the Internet,” she said. “I offer services not available elsewhere in Los Alamos. The unique demographics of the area have made me very successful.”

The dry climate and high altitude in New Mexico present a challenge for residents who want to have healthy, beautiful skin, English said.

English is able to offer a wide array of skin care treatments and products. She is a trained medical aesthetician and worked for several Phoenix plastic surgeons before moving to Los Alamos.

English offers microchanneling, which stimulates the body’s natural ability to generate new healthy skin. The treatment uses tiny needles to create channels for stem cell serum.

“Clients like it because the treatment doesn’t involve harsh chemicals and there is no down time after treatment. It is especially effective on acne and surgical scarring. It also helps remove wrinkles, stretch marks and sun damage. It also firms and tones the skin.”

English also offers chemical peels that speed up the exfoliation process, encouraging cell turnover, she said

Another treatment is microdermabrasion, which uses crystals to remove dead skin. It’s a good option for those who don’t want to use chemicals on their skin, she said.

English also offers facials, which pamper and improve all skin types. Facials are a deep cleansing treatment. Part of the treatment is massage of the face, neck and shoulders, she said.

“The skin health of my customers is my primary focus,” English said. “In addition to treatments I offer a full line of skincare and makeup.

English carries the Physician’s Care Alliance skin care line of products

“This is a medical grade product, which is sold in many dermatologists offices,” English said.

English also carries Jane Iredale and Osmosis makeup products.

English will be selling her equipment and transferring her lease to a new owner.

“There’s plenty of growth potential, she said. “I’ve chosen to work part-time, but full-time is definitely an option. There a lot of services not available in Los Alamos that could be added.”

English said her most important asset is her list of satisfied customers.

English has a lot of retirement plans. Her large flower garden and travel will take up some of her time. She also plans to volunteer two days a week at the Cancer Center in Santa Fe. Cancer-free for five years, English wants to give back by helping other cancer patients.

“I plan to enjoy life!” she said.
