Food on the Hill: Molasses Krinkels

This Week’s Recipe:

 
Molasses Krinkels

Ingredients:

 
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter(softened)
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup dark molasses
1 egg
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon each of cinnamon and ginger
1/2 teaspoon clove1/4 teaspoon salt
White Sugar for dipping

Cream shortening, butter and brown sugar until well mixed.

Then mix in all wet ingredients into the creamed butter mixture. In a separate bowl mix dry ingredients (not the white sugar), add the dry ingredients to wet bowl and mix well.

Chill 3 hours in plastic wrap.

Roll into  1 1/4 inch balls, roll each ball in white sugar, press down slightly and put on greased cookie pan. Press each ball just a bit. Bake at 375 degrees for 13-15 minutes.
