This Week’s Recipe: Cheesy Baked Onions

  • 1 medium onion, sliced in rings
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk or cream
  • 1/3 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Spray a 1 quart baking dish with non-stick spray. Place sliced onions in the baking dish.

In a small sauce pan melt butter and add flour

and cook for 1 minute (making a roux). Add milk and salt. Cook for 2 minutes. Take off heat and add 1/3 cup cheese.

Pour over onions and sprinkle the 1/2 cup of cheese over the top. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes.
