COMMUNITY News:
A tiny library in front of a home at 2639 45th St. was the latest recipient of a traveling troupe of pink flamingos.
Richard Bolton and Kathy Gursky are participating in a national organization called little Free Library and erected a small library at the corner of 45th and Arizona. In it are books that neighbors can sit and enjoy at the stone bench in their yard or take home and return.
Gursky, a retired librarian, said their tiny library is part of a national organization (littlefreelibrary.org) and is one of three in Los Alamos.
“It’s wonderful seeing people enjoying our library,” Gursky said.
The effort was ‘flocked’ recently by the pink flamingos that RE/MAX Associate Broker Paula Barclay has been moving around town to recognize efforts by residents to make Los Alamos more attractive and livable.
“This is just a lighthearted way to recognize these efforts,” Barclay said.
To nominate someone who has done work on their home’s exterior or yard, Barclay encourages them to get in touch with her at paulabarclay@remax.net.
