PEEC News:

Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is working with fisherman Bill Orr, who co-authored the book Fly Patterns of Northern New Mexico, to offer another two-day fly tying class, 1:30-3:30 p.m., March 19 and 26.

Participants will create their own ties designed for local fishing and receive a free copy of Orr’s book. All experience levels are welcome, even those who think they are all thumbs.

In this class, Orr will cover flies that were highly successful on his February fly-fishing trip as well as other techniques for having a wonderful fly-fishing season this year. All of the techniques are time-tested, local patterns that can be transferred to other locations.

Orr has been fly-fishing for 51 years and fly tying for 41 years. He learned the skills as a fifth grader and has been doing it ever since.

Space is limited for this class, so register now to reserve a spot. This two-session program costs $32/ PEEC member and $40/non-member, which includes both days, equipment and materials, and a copy of Fly Patterns of Northern New Mexico by Karen Denison and Bill Orr.

To register or find more information, PEEC’s website www.peecnature.org, stop by the Los Alamos Nature Center, or call 505.662.0460.
