First of Four Nights of County Budget Hearings Now Underway

The first of a projected four nights of FY2015-FY2016 budget hearings is underway in Council Chambers at the Los Alamos County Municipal Building at 1000 Central Ave. Officials from each department will present their budget to the County Council for approval and each department was instructed to keep their budget flat. County Administrator Harry Burgess told Council that a 2 percent increase for employee salaries is in the proposed budget. Also, $2 million is included for replacement of the County’s financial system, which is more than 20 years old and much of it is based on outdated programming, Deputy County Administrator/Chief Financial Officer Steven Lynne said.
