First Judicial District Judge Jason Lidyard Visits Post

First Judicial District Judge Jason Lidyard stopped by the Los Alamos Daily Post Monday to visit with public safety reporter Maire O’Neill. The two became acquainted when O’Neill began reporting on District Court cases while Lidyard was a prosecutor for the District Attorney’s office. After seven years there, Lidyard was appointed to fill the vacancy created when Judge Jennifer Attrep joined the Court of Appeals. He is seeking to keep his position by being elected in November and has spent the past two weeks campaigning in the Los Alamos and White Rock area. A former federal public defender, Lidyard has volunteered for legal aid clinics in the past. As a prosecutor he specialized in cases involving sexual assault, child abuse, violence and drug offences.
