NMFO News:SANTA FE ― The independent feature film “Silk Road,” produced by Picadilly, will begin principal photography mid-June through mid-July in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico State Film Office Director Todd Christensen announced Thursday.
The production will employ 80 New Mexico crew members, 25 New Mexico actors and 400 New Mexico background talent.
The feature is directed by Tiller Russell (“Operation Odessa,” “The Seven Five,” “The Last Rites of Ransom Pride,” “Bad Boys of Summer,” “Chicago P.D.,” “Chicago Fire,” “Outlaw Empires”) and produced by Duncan Montgomery (“Freeheld,” “Dirty Weekend, Bernie,” “The Last Rites of Ransom Pride,” “Pineapple”), Alex Orlovsky (“Viena and the Fantomes,” “The Discovery,” “Frank & Lol”), and David Hyman (“Veep,” “Parks and Recreation,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine The Good Place,” “Wine Country”).
“Having recently moved to New Mexico I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to shoot a film in my new home state with the very talented local cast and crew,” Director Russell said.
Executive produced by Dawn Bierschwal, Christopher Figg and Robert Whitehouse, the independent feature stars Jason Clarke (“Zero Dark Thirty,” “Mudbound,” “Everest,” “Terminator”), Nick Robinson (“Jurassic World,” “Everything/Everything,” “Boardwalk Empire”), Alexandra Shipp (“X Men: Apocalypse,” “Love Simon,” “Straight Outta Compton”) and Cole Sprouse (“Big Daddy,” “Riverdale,” “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody”), “Silk Road,” is a true crime epic about the criminal mastermind who unleashed the Dark Net and the ’Jurassic Narc’ bent on bringing down the young kingpin’s billion-dollar empire. Combining the traditions of classic films like “Goodfellas” and “The Departed” with the origin story of “Bitcoin”, “Silk Road” is a gangster film for the millennial generation.
