At 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, PEEC is offering “How to Extend Your Gardening Season.”
If you’re not ready for your gardening season to come to an end, join local certified arborist and integrated pest management specialist Laural Hardin for a basic class at PEEC. This class will be for those who have any type of season extending structure and wish to learn how to operate and maintain it for optimum yield.
In this 1.5 hour class, Hardin will discuss important factors such as ideal temperatures, humidity, air exchange and environmental controls. Participants will learn the basics of sanitation and the importance of consistent pest management.
The cost to attend the class is $6, or $5 for PEEC members. No advance registration is required, however to ensure a spot in the class, it is possible to register by visiting http://www.pajaritoeec.org, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling (505) 662-0460.
Friday, Aug. 23, PEEC will offer a “Plein Air” art class that will allow participants to explore our beautiful outdoor surroundings through art. Dorothy Hoard will lead a small group for this outdoor art session. Participants should meet at 9:30 a.m. at PEEC to carpool, or at 10 a.m. at the Cerro Grande Trailhead on N.M. 4.
The area that the group will visit is an open forest with aspen and ponderosa trees and a nice collection of wildflowers. Hoard will give instructions on how to draw flowers, or anything else found in the landscape. Participants will choose the medium for this class, whether it’s drawing or painting. Hoard will bring some basic supplies so participants can try their hands at using different types of media, if they wish. The area is level with parking close by, in case of a sudden monsoon.
The cost for the 4-hour class is $30 or $24 for PEEC members. Advance registration is required for this class. To register, visit www.pajaritoeec.org, email email@example.com or call (505) 662-0460.
