Los Alamos County reports zero new cases today so the total remains at 532 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)

This update includes 3 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.

DOH Investigates Two Suspected Wound Botulism Cases

DOH News:

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) is investigating two suspected cases of wound botulism, one involving a 26-year-old Rio Arriba County woman; the other a 40-year-old man from Bernalillo County, both patients report injection drug use.

These are the third and fourth suspected cases of wound botulism in 2021, with two prior cases reported in January, both from Eddy County.

Wound botulism cases in New Mexico have been linked primarily to injecting black tar heroin and methamphetamines.

Nearly 400K New Mexicans Enter ‘Vax 2 Max’ Sweepstakes

SANTA FE – New Mexico’s Vax 2 the Max Sweepstakes, a $10 million vaccination incentive program funded by federal stimulus dollars, has already attracted almost 400,000 New Mexicans in a little more than a week.

As of the end of the day Tuesday, June 8, 372,774 vaccinated New Mexicans had opted in to the sweepstakes.

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Departments of Health (NMDOH) and Environment have issued a smoke alert due to smoke from the Telegraph and Mescal Fires east of Phoenix, Ariz., and from residual smoke from fires in New Mexico.

COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic For 2nd Dose Of Pfizer Sunday

Nambe Drugs and Los Alamos County remind the community that a COVID-19 vaccination clinic is set for 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, June 6 in Griffith Gymnasium at Los Alamos High School, at 1300 Diamond Dr.

The clinic is to administer the second booster of Pfizer for individuals who received their first dose on May 16 and are primarily between ages of 12 and 15 years.   

Parental consent is required for minors under the age of 18 for each vaccine appointment.
