Volunteers Gear Up For Relay For Life

RELAY FOR LIFE News:

The last pre-event Relay for Life Volunteer Meeting is 6 p.m. today Large Conference Room (LCR) at Los Alamos Medical Center.

The LCR is located downstairs near the cafeteria and there will be signs providing direction to the meeting. The easiest and most convenient parking is in the back on the canyon-side of LAMC. Pizza and soft drinks will be hosted by LAMC.

Governor To Recognize UNM’s Recent Designation As A National Comprehensive Cancer Center

ALBUQUERQUE — Today, Gov. Susana Martinez will recognize the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center’s recent designation as a comprehensive cancer center by the National Cancer Institute.

The designation is the highest federal designation a cancer center can receive and will allow it to apply for additional funds to go toward cancer research. Read More

“I had no idea that there was a Pilates studio in Los Alamos.” Up until recently, Pilates classes were difficult to find. The same could have been said for Los Alamos, but not anymore. Now, there is a dedicated Pilates studio here – Blue Sky Pilates is at 2101 Trinity Dr., Suite A, across from Ashley Pond.
 
Blue Sky Pilates holds 22 classes per week to accommodate any schedule and skill level. Classes include Mat, Reformer, Pilates for Seniors, Chair, TRX, Stick, and MOTRTM.

Santa Fe Physician Arraigned On Federal Indictment Alleging Scheme To Defraud Programs

ALBUQUERQUE — Roy G. Heilbron, 51, a cardiologist in Santa Fe, was arraigned in federal court in Albuquerque on a 24-count indictment charging him with health care fraud and wire fraud.
 
Damon P. Martinez and Special Agent Carol K.O. Lee of the FBI’s Albuquerque Division, announced that Heilbron entered a not guilty plea and was released on his own recognizance.

UNM-LA Community Education is offering a one-day certification course on CPR and basic first aid called EMS 193 AED/CPR/First Aid Training, taught by Joe Candelaria, 9:30-4 p.m. Saturday, July 11 in room 612 at UNM-LA.
