Skolnik: Still Failing On COVID-19

The United States is still failing to meet the grave threats posed by COVID-19.

Testing for COVID-19 must be central to addressing the outbreak. Yet, testing is not being carried out in sufficient numbers to stem the growth of COVID-19 cases. South Korea has tested more than 700 times the number of people per capita than we have tested and Japan 12 times. U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich Issues Update On Operations Of His Washington D.C. And New Mexico Offices

Sixth Presumptive Positive COVID-19 Case In New Mexico

SANTA FE — New Mexico health officials announced Thursday that a sixth New Mexico resident tested presumptive positive for COVID-19, adding to the five presumptive positive tests this week.

Per New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH), the most recent case is a Santa Fe County woman in her 50s with known recent international travel to Italy. She is at home in isolation.

In light of New Mexico Governor Lujan-Grisham’s public health emergency announced Wednesday, officials with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities encourage its customers to conduct business with the department by phone or email as much as possible.

Los Alamos County Issues Response To Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham/NMDOH Mass Gatherings Ban Due To COVID-19

The increasing number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 virus spurred the Governor and New Mexico Health Department to issue a Public Health Emergency Order to Limit Mass Gatherings. In response to this, Los Alamos County began this afternoon a case-by-case assessment of all reservations, programs and events.

TriCore Reference Laboratories now testing
SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials announced today that TriCore Reference Laboratories (TriCore) is now performing a molecular diagnostic test of respiratory specimens for COVID-19 virus.

No Fans At NMAA State Basketball Championships

ALBUQUERQUE – Per the guidance of Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and recommendations from both the Departments of Health and Public Education, the 2020 NMAA State Basketball Championships will move forward without fans.

New Mexico Tax Department Files Appeal On Medical Cannabis To State Supreme Court

ALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico Tax and Revenue Department appealed a Jan. 28, Court of Appeals decision that would have allowed medical cannabis to receive a deduction from New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax (NMGRT) as a prescription drug.

Currently, sales tax on medical cannabis in New Mexico averages about 8 percent and approximately $10.5 million was remitted in 2019 by the 34 licensed cannabis producers.
