To further combat the coronavirus, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham issued a new public health order last week, which restricts the number of customers in essential businesses to 20 percent of their maximum occupancy.

Perhaps the businesses that this new order impacts the most are grocery stores and the local food markets have taken numerous measures to comply.

New Mexico Public Health Office In Los Alamos Offering COVID-19 Testing Mondays & Wednesdays By Appointment

COUNTY News:

The New Mexico Public Health Office in Los Alamos has begun offering the COVID-19 test 10 a.m. to noon Mondays and 9-11 a.m. Wednesdays.

Note: Testing will take place in individual’s vehicles, similar to the drive-thru testing that was previously completed at Overlook Park in White Rock.

Individuals will not be going into the facility itself to get tested. Residents who want to be tested must call the office at 505.662.4038 to make an appointment. No walk ins will be accepted.

There is no cost for the test.

Volunteers Asked To Log Hours; County May Be Able To Include In Request To FEMA For Later Reimbursement Against 25 Percent Match Due To COVID-19

Volunteers donating time and services are asked to log their hours and efforts using a form available on the County’s COVID-19 website: https://losalamosnm.us/cms/One.aspx?portalId=6435810&pageId=16645183

County Announces Upcoming Budget Hearings, Format

COUNTY News:

Budget hearings are set for April 20, 21, 27 and 28. All hearings begin at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers.

The format will be the same format used for the March 31 and April 7 council meetings that complies with the recent New Mexico Department of Health’s public emergency order governing mass gathering because of COVID-19.

Today’s update includes five additional deaths.

Supreme Court Election Case Hearing Streamed Live Tuesday

COURT News:

SANTA FE – Live streaming will be available Tuesday of a Supreme Court hearing in a case concerning procedures for the June primary election.

Oral arguments in the case will begin at 1:30 p.m., and New Mexico PBS, KNME-TV, will stream the hearing on its YouTube channel.

The number of  COVID-19 cases designated as having recovered by the New Mexico Department of Health tracks 10 days after the number of positive tests for COVID-19. The curve labeled Total Positive Tests is the cumulative number of positive COVID-19 tests. New Mexico Dept. Of Workforce Solutions Reports Unofficial Unemployment Insurance Initial Claims April 3-9

ALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) has released unofficial numbers for new Unemployment Insurance (UI) claims filed for Friday, April 3 to Thursday, April 9:

  • 20,085 – Total number of new claims processed for the week. Not all claimants will qualify for UI benefits.
  • 62,136 – Number of weekly certifications for the same timeframe mentioned above. These include people receiving benefits and others who are in the system and awaiting determination.
  • $442 million – Current trust fund balance.
