FBI Statement On Death Of Fugitive Leonard Francis Kieren

FBI News:

At approximately 12:30 p.m. today, members of the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF) were executing a federal arrest warrant in a remote area near Southern Ave. just west of 313 Ave. in Tonopah, Ariz.

The warrant was for Leonard Francis Kieren, 60, a fugitive who was wanted for homicide in Santa Fe. 

As members of the FBI VCTF attempted to make the arrest, the suspect fired at the officers/agents, who returned fire.

The subject was shot and pronounced dead at the scene. No agents or law enforcement members were injured.

This remains an ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time.
