FBI: California Man Charged With Assaulting Laguna Pueblo Police Officers

FBI News:

Ivan Allen, 38, of Laguna Niguel, Calif., has been charged in a federal complaint with assault on a federal officer for allegedly fighting with two Laguna Police Officers in New Mexico.

The incident occurred Tuesday, after the officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Laguna Pueblo. Allen allegedly exited the vehicle and fought with the officers for several minutes before he was taken into custody.

The officers are federal officers by virtue of their Bureau of Indian Affairs Special Law Enforcement Commission.

Allen had an initial appearance today in U.S. District Court in Albuquerque and was remanded into the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending Thursday’s preliminary/detention hearing.

The public is reminded that charges are merely allegations and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Note: The FBI does not release mugshots of defendants.
