Family Fun On Fourth Of July At The YMCA

The Family YMCA in Los Alamos is hosting its annual Firecracker 5K Family Fun Run Thursday, July 4. The 5K is open to all ages that want to walk, run, or jog in this festive event.
 
Prizes will go to the top male and female finishers in Kid, Youth, Adult, Adult 60+, Stroller (with a kid), and Dog Jogger. The best Costumed Participant will win Bagels-for-a-Year from Ruby K’s. All participants will get the annual Fun Run t-shirt and are eligible to win one of many great door prizes.
 
The 5K race route starts in the YMCA parking lot, turns north on 15th Street to Canyon Road, west on Canyon Road to the Aquatic Center, continues west on Canyon Road to Diamond Drive, makes a U-turn at the crosswalk and returns to the Y along same route running with traffic.
 
Early registration prior to July 4 at the Y, 1450 Iris St., is encouraged.
 
Race day check-in is 7:15-7:45 a.m. and the race starts at 8 a.m. July 4.
 
The cost is $35, or $25 for Y members, and $15 for Youth under 14. Day-of-Race fee is an additional $5.
 
Volunteers are needed to help with set-up and take-down, registration check-in, traffic control and timer assistance.
