Espanola City Police have rescued 15-year-old Angelica Valdez and arrested her 21-year-old abductor Christian Orozoco.

The Taos County Sheriff’s Office reports that Saturday evening Orozco forced his way into a Penasco area home, held the girl’s grandparents at gunpoint and threatened to kill them. Deputies say Orozco then abducted Valdez and took off in a brown-colored car.

The Taos County Sheriffs Office was notified at approximately 6:51 p.m., Saturday about the abduction and launched an Amber Alert.

Family members reported that Orozco and Valdez were in a recent, violent relationship. Orozco also is reportedly a wanted felon in a kidnapping and assault case in January out of Rio Arriba County.
